“PANORAMA GARDEN Discovering Signs in an Alternative Ecosystem”

　惜しまれつつも閉店してしまった港まちの喫茶店「キャビン」と「千代田」。中尾はそこに残されていた食器・調理器具やコミック、外装・内装の建具など、開店時の記憶を呼び起こすものを調査し、精密に描くことで絵巻に記述する。古典絵画の模写の技術をもつ中尾は、それを採用することで、永く定着することを試みている。遠い未来の人びとがこの絵巻を開いた時、私たちの現在はどのように捉えられるだろうか。また同展示室内、ブラックライトに照射されたパネル群は、絵巻に使用された色見本や手記が綴られ、時間の経過とともに失われる記憶や褪色など、避けられない未来を示唆している。絵画の記録や保存の側面だけではなく、人類学的視点からも興味深い未来の考古学を想起させる作品となる。（キャプションより引用）

Two of locally based coffee shops in the port area “Cabin” and “Chiyoda” are no longer in service. Nakao examined some elements that evoke the memories of the shops back in their early days, and carefully depicts objects such as table/cookware, comic books furnished, interior/exterior building parts in her scroll painting. Nakao, who studied reproduction technique of classical Japanese paintings, applies the procedure to the scroll painting for long-time conservation. What would people in the future think of our lives, when they look at the scroll painting? Panels lit up with black light in the exhibition apace showing color samples and notes from scroll painting-making process, tell us that degradation over time is inevitable, no matter how hard we tried. The significant work evokes a sense of “archaeology in the future”, not only because of its conservation aspect, but also its anthropological perspective.
